Taken and PSA
My father insisted I watch the movie taken... it is about a pair of young ladies abducted while they were on vacation in Paris and to be trafficked as sex slaves. Lots of action and fight scenes and the movie gives a chilling look into the reality of trafficked women.
On that note, this is a public service announcement in that line and looking at it really disturbed me... the truth is shocking
I Am Elena :
Emma Thompson stars in this PSA targetting sex slavery entitled “I Am Elena”. Thompson narrates in two different voices, an innocent girl, and an abused prostitute (who turn out to be one and the same). Thompson has been involved with this cause for years through the Helen Bamber Foundation.

Playing For Change: Song Around the World "Stand By Me"
From the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change: Peace Through Music", comes the first of many "songs around the world" being released independently. Featured is a cover of the Ben E. King classic by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it travelled the globe. This and other songs such as "One Love" will be released as digital downloads soon; followed by the film soundtrack and DVD early next year.

this is what sunrise looks like from the view of our bus:

Apgujeong - Korean Resto
One of my guilty pleasures is food. I love Korean food... or make that Dolsot Bibimbap. It is a rice topping dish that is served in a hot stone pot. I am slowly trying out all the Korean restos in town and each and every time I drop by a new place, I always check out their bibimbap.
This is the resto in SM City Cebu, Apgujeong.
Here is the dolsot bibimbap (I always forget taking a photo before mixing it all up), P260 :
Tastewise, it was so-so. The meat included was tender and I was surprised that they mixed in dried seaweed flakes (which I looove to eat). It came with 2 appetizers, non-refillable which is unlike all Korean restos I have been to which serve 6 appetizers and all are refillable. The kimchi they served I believe wasn't properly pickled and the egg appetizer was all rubbery and cold (seemed like stale ones).
And here is the Bulgogi bento, P165 :
This yellowy sheet at the bottom left is the rubbery egg I mentioned.
I don't think I will go back to this Korean resto since although the taste is okay, the value for money is not that much. I would prefer going to Yu Hee Jeon or the other Korean resto whose name I forgot.

the end of the world..not!
Supposedly, there was this text running around that there will be a huge quake that's gonna hit the Philippines today and the tropical island life that we all know would end!!!! As we were changing into our
scrub suits, some of my friends said that the ground shook... I didn't notice because I was too busy putting on my pants and wiggling into my top...
Turns out, this huge container van fell off/ jumped off the truck that was pulling it and crashed into the road beside our hospital, thus the loud crash (which I didn't notice) and the earth movement.
So... that was the closest thing to having a huge earthquake ruin our Friday.

Attack of the Nerds
As I passed by the huge glass windows of some computer/tutorial store in the mall, I saw these posters of those students who have taken Kumon training. Kumon is this some type of training in math of some sorts. As I looked closer, I realized that math geniuses can really be stereotyped. Based on the pictures they are :
1. Chinese
2. 50% probability of wearing eyeglasses
3. Guys nearly have identical hairstyles

when you hurt people?"
they may begin to love you less
and eventually,
they may begin to forget

books
Two visually appealing books that caught my attention in National Bookstore.
Interesting book...heheh I could add this to my collection.
Not straight enough? Not gay enough? Buy this book to make you man gay enough to be cute...but not gay-gay brokeback mountain gay. Just gay enough.
And again, I could use this book!

Koreans..are Hot!!!!
Literally, they are so hot, they are up in flames!!!!!! Here's a photo of a frazzled group of Koreans and resto staff trying to keep the hotness down. hahaha
I was having one of those early dolsot bibimbap dinners when this scene happened. The on-table burner for the yakiniku was shooting up flames.. I think because one of them inadvertently spilled oil or something volatile on it..

Alms & Coke
As I went out of the mall, this beggar and child was positioned in the middle of the skywalk.. I walked hurriedly past them but decided to turn back and take a quick photo.
It serves as a grim reminder of how poverty is so prevalent in our country... and that those of us who have roofs over our heads and 3 meals a day should remember that we are the lucky ones.

something blue and fishy
I saw him/her/it while me and my cousin were exploring the strange and surprising world that is called "downtown". It was swimming along a small plastic cup being hawked by a sidewalk vendor and I just couldn't take my eyes off it... The photo (blame it on my cameraphone, again!) doesn't do it any justice... The color is a beautiful iridescent blue that transitions to a violet near its head. And look at those lovely fins... they look like those floaty dresses!!

identity vs. role confusion
The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.Friedrich Nietzsche

San Remegio, after sunset
I'm not much of a traveler, but somehow, my current priority in life takes me to those out of the way places where I'd normally not go riding transportation I'd normally won't be riding (trisikad, anyone?).
Here is one of my groupmates in one of those rare times wherein we just get to chill out and relax... and eat (sorry, no food pictures).

The view from up here
Yup, this was my view all the way from the 5th floor. I got bored and decided to look out the window. It was a fabulous sunny day (though it may not look quite so... blame it on my cameraphone). The city's skyline is still sparse and uncluttered with high-rise buildings.. we are still in the probinsya..
